World Sight Day is a reminder of how important it is to protect and care for our vision. At Fort Lauderdale Eye Institute, we are proud to join this international effort to highlight the importance of healthy vision and empower patients with the resources to protect it.

The World Health Organization reports that at least 1 billion of these cases could have been prevented or have yet to be addressed. Common causes include cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, and age-related macular degeneration. Many of these conditions progress silently in their early stages, which is why comprehensive eye exams are essential for preserving sight.
We encourage patients to take proactive steps in maintaining eye health:
- Schedule a comprehensive eye exam with your optometrist or ophthalmologist. Early detection can make treatment more successful.
- Protect your eyes from UV rays with sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats.
- Eat a diet rich in leafy greens, fish high in omega-3 fatty acids, and colorful fruits that support long-term eye health.
- If you have diabetes, high blood pressure, or a family history of eye disease, remember to prioritize regular monitoring and follow-up care.
Our experienced team combines advanced technology with innovative, compassionate care to address cataracts, glaucoma, retinal diseases, and oculoplastic concerns.
