
Carl J Danzig, M.D., F.A.S.R.S.
Carl J Danzig, M.D., F.A.S.R.S., is a board-certified ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon with extensive experience in the diagnosis and treatment of retinal diseases.
Dr. Danzig earned a B.A. in Philosophy from Tulane University before returning to his hometown of Philadelphia to attend medical school at Temple University. After completing his internship in Philadelphia, he spent a year conducting intraocular tumor research at Wills Eye Hospital. He then completed his ophthalmology residency at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, followed by a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
He has built a distinguished career in clinical research, academic medicine, and patient care. In private practice, he founded the retina department at Rand Eye Institute and served as Principal Investigator for 59 clinical trials. He also helped bring investigational retinal gene therapy to South Florida through a clinical trial evaluating novel treatments for geographic atrophy.
Internationally recognized for his contributions to retinal research, he is a sought-after speaker at conferences and lectures worldwide and remains at the forefront of advances in retinal care, bringing innovative therapies to patients. He has authored numerous scientific publications, serves as a peer reviewer for leading ophthalmology journals, and continues to advance the field through research and education.
Dr. Danzig is a member of the Retina Society and is actively involved in several leading ophthalmology organizations. He serves as Chair of the Instructional Course on Geographic Atrophy for the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Affiliate Assistant Professor of Clinical Biomedical Science at the Charles E. Schmidt College of Medicine at Florida Atlantic University, and an incoming Board Member of the Florida Society of Ophthalmology.
Fluent in English and proficient in Spanish, he is committed to providing personalized, compassionate care while offering patients access to the latest advances in retinal treatment.
Dr. Danzig adores his wife and three children, and he has a passion for travel and has visited 67 countries, including all Seven New Wonders of the World.
