Enucleations and eviscerations can be performed to remove an eye when it is blind, painful, and not functioning properly. This is oftentimes the last step after a difficult journey addressing chronic and debilitating conditions of the eye. Though it can be difficult to imagine removal of the eye, patients in need of these procedures can achieve resolution of their pain and improvement in cosmesis after such surgeries.
