Droopy Eyelids, Eye Bags & Treatment Options
Many people feel they look tired even when they are well rested. In this video, Dr. Gil Epstein explains some of the most common causes of tired-looking eyes, including droopy eyelids (ptosis), excess upper eyelid skin, and under-eye bags or puffiness. He also discusses how these conditions can affect facial appearance and reviews treatment options that may help patients achieve a more refreshed and youthful look.
Hi, my name is Dr. Gil Epstein. I’m part of Fort Lauderdale Eye Institute, and I’m an Oculoplastic Specialist and I’m here today to talk about what makes people look tired.
In my discussions with patients over the years, I feel that the two most important features that cause the person or the patient to look tired would include in the upper lid, the lid actually drooping. Technically it’s called ptosis, and it represents a drooping or a falling down of the lid, oftentimes related to a muscle weakness or disinsertion or detachment, and with the eye closed more, that can definitely make one look tired.
Also, if there’s a lot of extra skin, and that’s what most people think of, if the skin is hanging down and making the eyelid upper mid look smaller, that can be a cause of looking tired.
In the lower lids, when you have puffiness in the lower lids, or bags as they call it, that can be the major cause for looking tired. Surgical remedies for all these types of procedures can be done to improve the appearance
and make one look less tired.
