In this educational video, Dr. Aliza Epstein explains the important role brow lifting can play in upper eyelid rejuvenation.

She discusses how the eyebrows and upper eyelids function together, and how lifting the brow can help open the eyes, reduce the appearance of excess eyelid skin, and create a more refreshed, youthful look. Dr. Epstein also reviews different brow-lifting techniques—including the endoscopic brow and forehead lift—and explains how the appropriate approach is determined based on individual anatomy and goals.

This video is designed to help patients better understand how brow lifting may be used alone or in combination with upper blepharoplasty for comprehensive upper-face rejuvenation.

Hi, I’m Dr. Aliza Epstein, and I’m an oculoplastic surgeon at the Fort Lauderdale Eye Institute. In this video, we’re going to talk about brow lifting.

When you come in for a consultation to discuss your upper eyelids, we sometimes also introduce the topic of addressing the eyebrows at the same time, because the eyebrows and the eyelids are directly connected—they function as one unit. When we lift the eyebrows, it can help open up the eyes, lift excess skin off the eyelids, and create a more youthful, rejuvenated appearance.

There are different ways to perform a brow lift. One of the most common brow-lifting procedures that I perform is called an endoscopic brow and forehead lift. This procedure lifts the entire brow and forehead and is performed through four small incisions hidden behind the hairline—one in each temple and two centrally. Through these small incisions, I introduce a camera called an endoscope underneath the soft tissue. I then release and lift the tissue and its underlying attachments to elevate the brow and forehead.

This is a fantastic procedure. The incisions are well hidden, and it effectively elevates the brow and forehead, helping to open up the eyes, address bunching in the area known as the glabella, and soften forehead lines. This procedure is often performed in conjunction with an upper blepharoplasty.

In addition to the endoscopic brow and forehead lift, there are several other ways to lift the brow. Sometimes an incision is made just above the brow hairs, and sometimes an incision is hidden in front of the hairline. Depending on your anatomy and the results you’re looking to achieve, we determine which type of brow-lifting procedure is best for you.

Thank you for listening to this video about brow and forehead lifting. We look forward to seeing you for a consultation.
