An Upper Blepharoplasty surgery is performed by oculoplastic specialists to address the excess skin and fat of the upper eyelid that can occur due to the result of genetics and/or aging. Careful measurements are made to determine the correct amount of skin to remove and in order to best hide the incision in the upper eyelid crease. When the excess upper eyelid skin is obstructing the vision, this surgery can sometimes be covered by insurance.
A Lower Blepharoplasty will address the lower eyelid bags, or puffiness of the lower eyelids. Sometimes the lower eyelids will appear to have dark circles, thin and wrinkled skin, and fat bulging. This can be due to genetics or the normal process of aging. In some cases the fat and skin are removed, and in other cases, the fat is repositioned with a fat transposition approach, to preserve one’s natural volume. The goal of a lower blepharoplasty is to create a smooth transition between the lower eyelid and the cheek.
The Endoscopic Brow and Forehead Lift is a minimally invasive approach to cosmetically lifting the brow and forehead. Descent of the forehead and eyebrow is a normal feature of aging and may contribute to the heaviness and fullness of the upper eyelids. Restoring the brow and forehead to its natural position can provide a youthful and rejuvenated appearance.
A Mid-Face Lift can be performed to address descent of facial tissue in the mid-face. Volume loss and descent are inevitable aspects of the aging process and elevation or the cheek and mid-face is performed to restore the facial tissue to its natural position. This can be performed in conjunction with eyelid surgery as well as brow and forehead lifting.
Laser resurfacing can be performed to address fine lines and wrinkles, texture irregularities, and pigmentation abnormalities of the eyelid and facial skin. An ablative CO2 laser is utilized to provide meaningful and lasting results. Eyelid and facial surgery combined with laser resurfacing can create an elevated surgical result of facial rejuvenation.
Chemical peels can also be performed in conjunction with eyelid surgery or alone to provide skin resurfacing and tightening of the skin.
Botox, or other neurotoxin injections, are performed to address wrinkles in the face that are naturally caused due to our facial muscle movement. The injections will weaken the muscles, without paralyzing them, in order to smoothen the skin and reduce wrinkles, while providing a natural result. The effects typically last for 3-4 months and injections can be repeated regularly.
These procedures are commonly performed at outpatient surgery centers, however sometimes they can be performed in the office setting under local anesthesia.
