Gil Epstein, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Gil Epstein is not only an accomplished Oculoplastic Surgeon in South Florida, but he is the first physician in Broward County to be fellowship trained in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery as well. He has extensive experience in cosmetic laser eyelid and facial plastic surgery, and specializes in Oculoplastics Cosmetic and Functional, Orbit, Lacrimal, and Botox.
He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of several medical associations and societies, including the American
Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Florida Medical Association, and the Broward County Ophthalmology Society. He was a pioneer in laser resurfacing for wrinkles and dark circles and he is dedicated to improving patient’s quality of life through improved vision.
Dr. Epstein is experienced in achieving optimal facial skin rejuvenation results using Xeomin ®, Dysport ®, Radiesse, Restylane ®, and Juvederm ® fillers. He is a pioneer for the use of Botox ® around the eyelids and face as well as for the use of laser skin resurfacing (co2 laser) for wrinkles and dark circles. He is also experienced in blepharoplasty and other advanced ophthalmological techniques. As an oculoplastic surgeon in Fort Lauderdale, Dr. Epstein has successfully treated patients in all groups who suffer from ocular conditions such as ptosis (droopy eyelids), eyebrow disorders and drooping, chalazions (styes), eyelid skin cancer (basal cell and squamous cell carcinoma), congenital eye disorders, dry eye disease. He also treats patients who suffer from eyelid laxity, eye infections, entropion, ectropion, lacrimal (tear duct) conditions, blocked tear ducts, thyroid eye disease, and even orbit fractures and tumors.
Dr. Epstein was born and raised in Miami, Florida and graduated from Miami Beach High School. He then went on to graduate from Emory University in 1971 as a member of Phi Beta Kappa with honors, and in 1975 he earned his medical degree from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. From there, Dr. Epstein served his medical internship at the Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center until 1976, and then completed his ophthalmology residency at the Michael Reese Hospital in 1979. He completed his fellowship in ophthalmic plastic reconstructive surgery at The Michael Reese Hospital and University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in 1980.
Dr. Epstein joined the Fort Lauderdale Eye Institute in 1980 and has since received many honors and recognitions for his teachings. In 1993, he received the Honor Award at the American Academy of Ophthalmology and has been a recipient of the American Medical Association Physicians Recognition Award from 2004 to 2013. Currently, Dr. Epstein is an Assistant Clinical Professor at Nova Southeastern University School of Optometry and the Nova Southeastern University College of Medicine.
