Ilan J. Epstein, M.D.

Dr. Ilan Epstein is an Ophthalmologist in Plantation who specializes in cataract, cornea, glaucoma, and LASIK treatments. He has extensive experience in premium laser and refractive cataract surgery, laser vision correction, ocular surface disease, and corneal surgery.

He is board-certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and has authored numerous scientific articles and book chapters as well as presenting original research at meetings. Presently, Dr. Epstein is a member of both the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Epstein was born and raised in Plantation, FL. He graduated as co-valedictorian of his class at Nova High School. Following high school, Dr. Epstein was accepted to the prestigious Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology at the University of Pennsylvania, completing dual undergraduate degrees from the Wharton School of Business and the School of Engineering and Applied Science.

Dr. Epstein went on to pursue a medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Following medical school, Dr. Epstein completed an Internship in Internal Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital/University of Miami and then a Residency in Ophthalmology at Kings County Hospital/SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. Dr. Epstein then earned a prestigious fellowship position in Cornea, Refractive Surgery, and External Disease at Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island in Rockville Centre, NY under the mentorship of Dr. Eric D. Donnenfeld and Dr. Henry D. Perry – two highly regarded specialists in the field.

Now, Dr. Epstein fulfilled a lifelong dream of joining and working alongside his father Dr. Gil A. Epstein, M.D. at the Fort Lauderdale Eye Institute. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, SCUBA diving, underwater photography, and skiing.
