Project Description
Do you look tired or sad all the time? Are you frustrated with your puffy or drooping eyelids, or heavy bags or empty hollows under your eyes?
Drooping skin around your eyes is a natural part of the aging process; however, loose skin can hide the natural contours of your face, and give a tired or elderly appearance. Cosmetic blepharoplasty is an effective procedure that removes excess skin and fat from your upper and lower eyelids, helping you look bright-eyed and awake.
It’s important to always contact a specialist, such as an oculoplastic surgeon or an ophthalmologist, to protect your eyes and ensure the best possible outcome. Upper lid surgery can take as little as 30 minutes, and can be done at a surgical center or in office under local anesthesia. If lower lid surgery is also being performed, it could take an hour or two and may require general anesthesia. Your doctor will use the natural creases of your lids to minimize scarring.
You and your doctor may choose complementary procedures, such as a brow lift in addition to eyelid surgery. As with any surgery, it will take time for the skin around your eyes to fully heal. You can expect bruising and swelling to improve over the course of a few weeks. You and your oculoplastic surgeon will discuss any restrictions following surgery or recommendations to accelerate the healing process. However, results can be enjoyed for years to come. You deserve to look as good as you feel.
