Keith A. Skolnick, M.D.
Dr. Skolnick is a board-certified Ophthalmologist skilled in eye surgery. In 2021 and 2022, Newsweek magazine ranked him in the top 100 ophthalmologists in the United States, “America’s Best Eye Doctors”. He specializes in no stitch, no needle, LASER cataract surgery and has performed over 22,000 cataract and lens replacement procedures since 1997. During his career he has also performed thousands of LASIK, corneal transplant, and complex glaucoma procedures. He only implants intraocular lens implants manufactured by the leaders in the industry including Bausch & Lomb, Johnson & Johnson, and Alcon.
Besides using the standard monofocal or single vision lens implant he also uses lenses that restore one’s ability to see distance and near. These are called multifocal, extended depth of focus, or multi vision lenses and include the TECNIS Odyssey™, TECNIS Synergy™, TECNIS Puresee™, TECNIS Symfony™ OptiBlue®, Clareon® PanOptix®, Clareon® Vivity®, and IC-8® Apthera™. He also implants toric lenses which correct your preexisting astigmatism resulting in even sharper vision.
He was one of the first eye surgeons in Florida to offer femtosecond LASER cataract surgery technology using the Catalys® precision system and the LenSx® platform. He performs painless ocular surgery in which patients are given an intravenous sedative “twilight” anesthesia.
Besides cataract surgery he performs many types of laser eye surgery, minimally invasive glaucoma procedures, clear lensectomy, and astigmatism treatments. Dr. Skolnick no longer performs LASIK surgery, but was one of the first surgeons to perform the refractive procedures, LASEK and Conductive Keratoplasty, in South Florida. Dr. Skolnick no longer provides routine eyecare as his focus is advanced technology cataract surgery and taking care of his existing patients with glaucoma.
Dr. Skolnick was born in New Jersey and grew up in Coral Springs, Florida. He graduated in the top ten students of his class at Taravella High School and had perfect attendance all four years. He majored in Neurobiology at the University of Michigan and attended medical school at the University of South Florida, where he graduated from the honors medicine program. At the end of his first residency year he was honored to be awarded “intern of the year” judged by both his peers and professors. He completed his medical and surgical residency in Ophthalmology at Loyola University of Chicago and the Hines V.A. Hospital, taking care of our veterans. After completion of his training he returned to South Florida and now resides in Davie with his wife and three children. Interestingly, he has an identical twin brother who is also an Ophthalmologist practicing in Palm Beach.
Dr. Skolnick teaches students and residents as a Clinical Instructor for the NOVA Southeastern University School of Optometry and is a Clinical Assistant Professor for the NOVA Southeastern University College of Medicine. He has published articles in several peer reviewed journals and has been an investigator for a number of FDA approved clinical studies. He frequently lectures to other eye doctors and the community about recent advances in eye surgery and has been featured many times on local television news health segments and newspapers. For many years he was one of the team ophthalmologists for the Florida Panthers professional hockey team. Dr. Skolnick prides himself on keeping up with the latest medical treatments and surgical advancements. He also holds a U.S. patent for a home improvement invention. Not only is he an experienced surgeon and diagnostician, he is compassionate and dedicated to his patients’ well-being.
